At a Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday March 18th, the Bedford County Public Service Authority (“BCPSA”) named Brian M. Key, PE as their Executive Director.

The position was left vacant when the previous Administrator, William E. “Willie” Jones, resigned in December 2007 to accept the position of Executive Director of the Halifax County Service Authority; he began his new role in Halifax on January 2, 2008.

Mr. Key started working with the BCPSA in 1993 as a consulting engineer, where he completed the design and contract administration of many water and sewer projects for the Authority. He was hired by the BCPSA on February 6, 2000 as the Authority’s first staff engineer, where he then began to form the engineering team as their engineering manager. In 2003 he assumed the role of Director of Design and Facility services, where he oversaw the engineering, operations, and maintenance departments. Mr. Key has served as the Authority’s Interim Administrator for the past four months, as the Board of Directors completed the regional search for a new Executive Director.

Mr. Key lives in the Thaxton Area of Bedford County, with his wife and two children.
