The Bedford Regional Water Authority (“Authority”) has released its first strategic plan that will guide the Authority over the next few years.

“It’s been an exciting process to go through for the Authority. After operating for a year and a half, the Authority is ready to take the next step of planning for the future to ensure that we are the most efficient and effective water authority we can be,” stated Brian Key, Authority Executive Director.

The strategic plan is not to take away focus from the main objective of providing quality water and wastewater services, but rather it is meant to add to the organization’s ability to better and more efficiently serve its employees and customers.

The Authority hired consultant Terry King of IDEAL Consulting to guide the board of directors and management through the strategic planning process. The plan was developed over the course of five meetings where the group defined a mission, vision, values, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and five main goals to focus on over the next year and beyond.

The five main goals that the Authority will focus on in 2015 are:
· Open communication between employees
· Increased water accountability
· Expand SCADA system
· Providing increased public relations and education
· Develop capital improvement plan

The entire strategic plan is posted on the Authority’s website.
