The Authority constructed a new water treatment plant near Smith Mountain Lake to provide water from Smith Mountain Lake to serve Forest, the Town of Bedford, and expanding service area in Franklin County as served by Western Virginia Water Authority. This new water treatment plant is jointly owned and operated with the Western Virginia Water Authority. The BRWA built new waterlines from Smith Mountain Lake to Forest to provide redundancy throughout the Town and County of Bedford. All waterlines as part of this project are now available for public connection.
